Men’s Tennis Central: #16 Tennessee vs. #26 Mississippi State

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 16th-ranked Tennessee men's tennis team will open SEC play with a home contest against No. 26 Mississippi State at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday at Goodfriend Tennis Center.
A live stream will be provided for fans here, and live stats will also be available here. Admission is free to fans, and tennis parking will be available on West Volunteer Boulevard and at the top of the CI7/NC7 garage located next to Barksdale Stadium.
LAST TIME OUT
The Vols (9-2) faced off against in-state foe Tennessee State in a doubleheader to round out their non-conference competition. In both matches, Tennessee secured 7-0 victories, winning each court in the minimum number of sets.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Mississippi State currently sits at 10-1 on the season, with their sole loss coming at the hands of No. 22 NC State during ITA Kickoff Weekend. Their most recent triumphs came last weekend, taking down Memphis and Jackson State in Starkville.
The Bulldogs have four individuals who are slotted in both the ITA National singles and doubles rankings. Benito Sanchez Martinez, Petar Jovanovic, Mario Martinez Serrano and Niccolo Baroni are the quartet of ranked individuals for Mississippi State.
Tennessee holds the all-time advantage over the Bulldogs, 40-26. The Vols are riding a five-match win streak coming into this showdown, securing a win in the series in each of the past five seasons.
