SPRING SEASON
- Was a standout for Tennessee in his final season of collegiate tennis, playing mainly at the No. 1 spot in both singles and doubles and earning All-SEC First Team honors and an SEC Newcomer of the Year distinction.
- Completed one of the most miraculous comebacks in Tennessee men's tennis recent history, coming back from 5-0 down in the third set and winning seven consecutive games against Duke's Pedro Rodenas to clinch a 4-3 victory for the Vols with a 7-5, 6(3)-7, 7-5 scoreline.
- Posted two consecutive singles victories at the SEC Tournament en route to a SEC Semifinals appearance for the Vols.
- Registered a dominant 6-1 doubles victory with Moreno against Texas' Gorzny/Legout.
- Recorded his 100th career singles win against Texas A&M, taking down 35th-ranked Theo Papamalamis, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1.
- Picked up his fifth straight singles victory, defeating Vanderbilt's Danil Panarin, 6-4, 6-3.
- Notched two ranked singles wins over Alabama's No. 83 Roan Jones, 6-4, 6-3, and Auburn's Alex Frusina, 6-3, 7-6(2), while taking down the Crimson Tide's No. 83 pairing of Nezar/Zimnokh, 6-2, alongside Moreno in doubles play.
- Secured the doubles point alongside Moreno vs. Ole Miss, battling to take down Stromberg/Milburn, 7-6(5), while notching a 7-6(5), 4-6, 6-4 victory over the Rebel's Marcel Kamrowski.
- Posted an undefeated weekend going 2-0 in singles acquiring a doubles win in showdowns against Oklahoma and Arkansas.
- Excelled in singles and continued his winning ways alongside Kotzen in doubles, going undefeated in both in a two-match tilt versus Tennessee State.
- Went 2-0 on the day in a doubleheader against Elon and Penn, securing wins at the No. 1 spot in doubles and on courts one and two in singles.
- Clinched the doubles point for the Vols against No. 16 Michigan State alongside Alejandro Moreno, defeating the Spartans' Rakhmatullayev/Alazmeh, 7-6(3).
- Opened his dual debut for the Vols with a doubles victory alongside Jose Garcia and a singles win against No. 98 Karim Al-Amin of MTSU, 6-3, 6-3.
- Went 6-3 in both singles and doubles during the fall slate while also earning a trip to the NCAA Singles Championships in November.
- Was a singles finalist and tallied a runner-up performance in doubles alongside Alejandro Moreno at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships.
- Earned a victory against Ozan Baris of Michigan State, the top-ranked player in the nation, with a 7-5, 7-5 decision in the singles main draw at the ITA All-American Championships to secure his first win as a Vol.
BEFORE TENNESSEE
- Held a career-high ITA singles ranking of No. 7 (2/24/22) as a member of Columbia.
- With a UTR of 13.53, Kotzen has totaled a 61-28 singles record during his three seasons with the Lions, most notably notching a 14-3 record at the top spot for Columbia during the 2021-22 dual match slate.
- In doubles play, he posted an impressive 16-5 record in 2022-23.
- He was named 2019-20 Northeast Rookie of the Year, unanimous First Team All-Ivy in 2021-22 and Second Team All-Ivy during the 2022-23 season.
PREP/PERSONAL
- Son of Danielle and Voogt and Jeffrey Kotzen. Has two brothers, Nicolas and Andrew.
- Father, Jeffrey, was a men's tennis team member at Haverford.
- Was the 2019 NJ.com Player of the Year award as a member of Newark Academy.
- Won the 2019 NJSIAA State Singles Tournament Championship, losing just nine games in seven matches.
- Participated in competitive ski racing, ranking 10th in the state of New York in 2013.
