Tennessee men's tennis is set to have nine Volunteers travel to Rome, Georgia, to participate in the RTC Collegiate Invite at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College over the weekend.
Those nine Vols participating include Adrien Abarca, Alan Bojarski, Martin Doskocil, Jose Garcia, Shion Itsusaki, Daniel Jovanovski, Orel Kimhi, Oscar Lacides and Woodson McMillin. A two-time All-SEC honoree previously at Oklahoma, Lacides will see his first action for the Big Orange this weekend.
Several schools from around the region will have players in action at the invite, including Georgia, LSU, Vanderbilt, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State and Jacksonville State. The event includes both singles and doubles competitions from Friday to Sunday.
Consistent with standard college fall tennis protocol, no team results will be available from the competition this weekend. Individuals will still be credited with wins or losses throughout the weekend.
STRONG SHOWING
Knoxville native Jose Garcia looks to build off a strong showing at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, where he reached the round of 16 in singles and the quarterfinals alongside Shion Itsusaki in doubles. Garcia, the 2025-26 ITA Ohio Valley Region Most Improved Player, embodied that award by posting a 5-2 overall record for the tournament. That was a significant improvement from his round of 32 exit at regionals during his sophomore year.
VOLS IN THE RANKINGS
UT was represented three times in the recent ITA rankings, with two players listed in singles and one doubles pairing included in the preseason polls. Transfers Lacides and Kimhi were represented and gained their highest career rankings. Lacides checked in at 36th, while Kimhi was 42nd. Kimhi and Lacides also earned a No. 16 national ranking in doubles as well.
UP NEXT
The Big Orange will return home for a quick turnaround at the UTR PTT Knoxville event from Oct. 27-31.
