KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 16 Tennessee men's tennis team picked up two victories against Tennessee State on Saturday at Goodfriend Tennis Center.

UT (9-2) did not drop a single court on the day to Tennessee State (0-3), winning every match in the minimum number of sets.

MATCH 1: Tennessee 7, Tennessee State 0
Alan Jesudason and Jose Garcia got the action started for the day with a 6-3 win over Tatenda Mutetwa and Alexander Adamec. No. 18 Alex Kotzen and Alejandro Moreno continued their hot streak on court three, defeating Jonasz Dziopak and James Adler Germinal, 6-4, to clinch the doubles point for the Vols.

James Newton and Jan Kobierski were up against Taj Hibbert and Rohan Loubser, 6-5, before the match went unfinished.

While his match went unfinished in doubles play, Newton dominated in singles play and was the first court to finish, securing a win over A. Adamec, 6-1, 6-0. Other singles victories were then picked up in order by Jesudason, Kobierski, Moreno and Jesudason.

Lance Nisbet closed things out with a win in the first match of his Tennessee career, taking down Mutetwa, 7-6(5), 6-1.

MATCH 2: Tennessee 7, Tennessee State 0
The afternoon portion of the doubleheader saw similar results for the Big Orange, as they jumped out to an early edge and never looked back. Jesudason and Newton were the first doubles court to come to a close, posting a 6-2 win against Dziopak and Germinal.No. 18 Kotzen and Moreno ended the doubles round with an emphatic 6-2 decision on court one over Hibbert and Loubser.

Garcia joined the singles action in the afternoon slate and did not disappoint, defeating Loubser, 6-2, 6-0. Newton capped off an impressive day on court six, earning a win over Bogelin, 6-2, 6-2. Other singles victories were gained by No. 29 Kotzen, Kobierski, Cruz and Jesudason to wrap up the second sweep of the day for the Big Orange.

LANCE'S VOL DEBUT
During today's doubleheader, freshman Lance Nisbet won the first match of his young Tennessee career in two sets, defeating Tatenda Mutetwa, 7-6(5), 6-1.

He joins fellow Vol Jose Garcia as the second freshman to secure their first-ever singles victory at UT this season.
