Vols Finish Tied For Seventh at the Louisiana Classics

LAFAYETTE, La. - The Tennessee men's golf team concluded play at the Louisiana Classics by tying for seventh with a scorecard of 307-287-298-892. The tournament was held at the Oakbourne Country Club (par 72, 7,083 yards).
Leading the way for the Vols was junior John Scott Rattan who finished tied for 13th. Rattan bounced back from a 74-74 on the first day to shoot an even-par 72 during the final round for a total of 220.
Next for UT was junior David Skinns, finishing tied for 20th. Skinns carded a 73-72-77-222. Fellow junior Ross McGowan finished third among the UT competitors in a tie for 24th with an 81-69-73-223.
Rounding out the Vol scoring was freshman Jonathan Mount and sophomore Lloyd Campbell. Mount fired a 79-75-76-230 to finish tied for 60th, while Campbell shot an 84-72-77-233 to tie for 67th.
Southern Methodist claimed the team championship with a 290-284-291-865. The Mustangs edged second-place Kansas by one stroke. The Jayhawks fired a 291-290-285-866. Texas Tech (868), Tulsa (879) and Texas A&M (882) rounded out the top five teams.
Kevin Ward of Kansas was the individual medallist. Ward fired a 72-72-66-210 to win the tournament by one stroke over Will Dodson of Southern Methodist who shot a 70-73-68-211. David Inglis of Tulsa finished tied for third with a 215, while Colt Knost of Southern Methodist and Chris Pace of Texas Tech finished tied for fourth with scores of 216.
The 24th-ranked Vols return to action, March 20-21, when they compete in the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational in Statesboro, Ga.
