HIGH SCHOOL
• Graduated from Walker Valley High School in Cleveland, TN, where he was coached by Joe Shamblin • Was drafted with the first pick of the 28th round (842nd overall) by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft
• Was ranked by PGCrosschecker as the No. 7 prospect in the state of Tennessee and 391st nationally
• Named to the 2011 Rawlings/Perfect Game Preseason Southeast Region All High School Senior second team, the Chattanooga Times Free Press 2011 Best of the Preps second team and the TBCA All-Region 3 team.
• Led the Mustangs to a 22-14 record and a District 5-AAA tournament championship as a senior in 2011 after battling through injuries to tally a 3-2 record with three saves.
• Also stuck out 63 in just 39.1 innings of work and finished with an ERA just over 1.00.
• Twirled 14 innings as a junior in 2010...Also tallied a .372 batting average with nine doubles and a pair of triples as an outfielder for the Mustangs.
