No. 6 Tigers Hold Off Challenge From Vols, 4-0
March 08, 2026 | Men's Tennis
BATON ROUGE, La. - Tennessee men's tennis challenged No. 6 LSU in doubles before the hosts leaned on singles to defeat the Volunteers, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at the LSU Tennis Complex.
The Tigers looked like they were going to run away with it in doubles from the start, jumping to a 2-0 lead on each doubles court. The Vols, though, started finding their footing, tying all of the matches at two sets apiece. The Tennessee duo of Woodson McMillin and Boruch Skierkier gained a lead on court three after trailing.
LSU struck first with a win on court one from the tandem of Sasa Markovic and Andrej Loncarevic. Courts two and three were back and forth, needing tiebreaker sets to determine the outcomes. The Tigers captured the doubles point after they got to seven first on court two, winning 7-6 (7-5).
Court three went unfinished in the final set, with LSU's tandem of Enzo Kohlmann and Olaf Pieczkowski holding a slight edge, 6-6 (4-2).
LSU started strong in singles, capturing the first set on all six courts. UT's Alejandro Moreno showed some life on court two, though, pushing the first set to an extra frame before falling.
The Big Orange's Jan Kobierski opened up the second set on fire, racing to a 4-1 lead. The Tigers closed the match out, however, with triumphs on courts one, three and six.
UP NEXT
The Vols will start a three-match homestand with a competition against Arkansas on March 13 at 5 p.m. ET, and then the Big Orange will play a doubleheader against Alabama and Mercer on March 15.
