LAST TIME OUT
Tennessee (17-7, 8-5 SEC) dropped a narrow 4-3 decision to No. 14 Texas A&M on Friday at Barksdale Stadium. The Aggies picked up the doubles point to gain an early advantage, and singles saw back-and-forth action throughout.
Â
Shunsuke Mitsui, Alex Kotzen and Ian Cruz picked up singles wins for the Vols, but the Aggies were able to hold off the comeback effort and give Tennessee only its second loss in the last ten matches.
Â
SCOUTING THE LONGHORNS
Texas (22-3, 13-0 SEC) has already clinched the outright SEC Championship, currently holding a perfect 13-0 record in conference play. All three of their losses have come against top-five opponents, and they are currently riding an eight-match win streak heading into Sunday's tilt against the Big Orange.
Â
The two teams have recent history with each other, as they faced off last year in the NCAA Quarterfinals. The Longhorns took a 4-2 decision over the Vols in Stillwater, Okla. This year marks the first time both members are members of the SEC when facing off.
Â
The Longhorns currently have five ranked players, as Theo Papamalamis, JC Roddick, Togan Tokac, Luke Casper and Giulio Perego are slotted in the latest ITA Rankings.
