WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 13 Tennessee men's tennis team came up short against fourth-ranked Wake Forest, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.
Tennessee (3-1) was unable to clinch the doubles point against Wake Forest (4-0). The Demon Deacons tallied wins on courts two and three. Alan Jesudason and Jan Kobierski were trailing 2-4 in their match before it went unfinished.
Wake Forest took home singles wins in straight sets on courts three, four and five. No. 18 Shunsuke Mitsui was in a battle in the second set but was unable to take it to a third as his match went unfinished.
James Newton tallied a first-set triumph over Franco Capalbo, 6-4. No. 34 Alex Kotzen also won his first set against seventh-ranked DK Suresh Ekambaram, 7-6(4). Both courts were in competitive dogfights in the second set but were unable to be completed before the match ended.

Tennessee is set to host the 2025 ITA Kickoff Weekend. Play for the Vols will begin on Saturday against Illinois at 12 p.m. ET in Goodfriend Tennis Center and continues Sunday, Jan. 26 against either Auburn or Michigan.
