- Spent two seasons with his brother Ben Joyce at Walters State and helped lead the Senators to the NJCAA D1 JUCO World Series as a freshman in 2019
- Did not play during the 2020 COVID-shortened season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in January 2020
- Made 13 relief appearances with a 1.15 ERA as a freshman in 2019, racking up 24 strikeouts while issuing just six walks in 15.2 innings pitched

- Has a twin brother Ben, who is four minutes older
- Brother, Ben, was an All-American relief pitcher for UT in 2022 and was drafted in the third round of the 2022 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Angels. Ben’s fastball was clocked at 105.5 mph during the 2022 season, believed to be the fastest pitch thrown in college baseball history
- Was born and raised in Knoxville and grew up rooting for Tennessee
