Men’s Tennis Central: Tennessee at Kentucky and Vanderbilt

The Tennessee men's tennis team will begin conference play with matches at Kentucky at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex in Lexington and at Vanderbilt on Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. ET at the Lummis Family Tennis Center in Nashville.

LAST TIME OUT
The Vols' singles play shined brightly against Chattanooga after a slow start in doubles, sweeping all six singles matches in a 6-1 victory over the Mocs.
SCOUTING THE CATS
After starting the season in the top 25, Kentucky has fallen out of the poll after losing to No. 23 Illinois twice, but the Wildcats have bounced back to compile a 7-3 record before SEC play.
Tennessee won the last head-to-head matchup against UK, 4-3, on Mar. 9, 2025, to move the all-time record to 69-48 in favor of the Big Orange.
SCOUTING THE COMMODORES
Vanderbilt is off to a strong start, totaling an 8-2 record with its only losses coming against No. 1 Wake Forest and No. 2 Virginia. VU's most recent wins came last weekend against Michigan State and Lipscomb at home.
UT holds the all-time advantage over the Dores, 70-25. The Vols are riding a six-match win streak coming into the showdown, securing a win in the series in each of the past five seasons.

Senior Alejandro Moreno has been ranked on the ITA rankings list all season, claiming his fifth consecutive appearance this week at No. 58. That number has been deserved as he has gone 12-3 in singles.
MILESTONE TRACKER
Sophomore Jose Garcia claimed his 30th career singles victory during the Chattanooga match, moving him to 11-5 on the season.
The winningest Vol on the team, Alejandro Moreno is two singles wins from 70 for career. Moreno has an impressive 35-16 singles record in his two years with Tennessee.
UP NEXT
The Vols will start a three-match homestand with a competition against Auburn on Feb. 27 at 5 p.m. ET, and then the Big Orange will play a doubleheader against Oklahoma and Belmont on March 1.
