Men's Golf Central: NCAA Championships

CARLSBAD, Calif. – The No. 18 seed Tennessee men's golf team begins play at the NCAA Championships Friday at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa's North Course.
Consisting of 30 teams, the NCAA Championships are set to run from Friday through next Wednesday.
Friday through Sunday will feature 18 holes of stroke play each day for each of the 30 teams. Following the third round of stroke play Sunday, the top 15 teams will play an additional 18 holes on Monday, At the conclusion of the fourth round, the top eight teams will then advance to the match play bracket, which will be completed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Vols qualified for the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season by way of finishing third at the Amherst Regional. Lance Simpson led UT with a sixth-place finish after a final-round 66.
THE VOLS' LINEUP
Lance Simpson
Simpson is coming off an eventful week, as he qualified for the 125th U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. Simpson turned in an 8-under showing on golf's longest day to secure one of seven spots in the U.S. Open after carding a 69 in round one and a 65 in the second round.
Christian Pardue
Pardue came up big in his first true lineup start at NCAA Regionals after tying for 17th at even-par overall.Â
Josh Hill
Hill also put up a strong performance at the Amherst Regional after shooting 1-under overall to tie for 14th.Â
Bruce Murphy
Murphy, along with Simpson, is set to compete in his second consecutive NCAA Championship.Â
Jackson HerringtonÂ
Herrington contributed three counting scores at the NCAA Amherst Regional and tied for 30th.Â
