Vols Currently in First at NCAA Amherst Regional as Pardue Holds Individual Lead in Round One

AMHERST, Va. - The Tennessee men's golf team currently sits in first place at the NCAA Amherst Regional as Christian Pardue is in the individual lead.
The Vols shot 9-under in round one with four players under-par. UT, along with five other teams, was able to complete the first round of play on Sunday. Play halted Sunday night due to darkness for the six other teams in the field who have about three holes left to complete on Monday morning.
Pardue, who is making just his second true lineup start, came out the gates hot, firing a career-low 4-under 66. The Arlington, Tennessee, native started his round with three straight birdies and shot a 30 (-5) on his first nine holes. Additionally, Pardue played the par-4s at 5-under and clutched out seven birdies.
Josh Hill and Bruce Murphy provided the Big Orange with a pair of 2-under 68s and are currently tied for sixth place.
Hill was even-par through 16 holes and then finished the first round strong with a pair of birdies on his last two holes on Sunday.
Murphy's round-one was highlighted by his first nine holes of the day, which included a bogey-free side with a pair of birdies for a 33.
Freshman Jackson Herrington gave UT its final counting score on Sunday after carding a 1-under 69 after finishing the round with a back-to-back birdies. The Dickson, Tennessee, native is tied for 11th.
Tennessee's final golfer, Lance Simpson, posted a 1-over 71 in round one and is currently tied for 31st.
