Rowing Central: #3 Tennessee vs. #2 Stanford
March 28, 2025 | Rowing
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – The third-ranked Tennessee rowing team officially commences its 2025 season Saturday morning, as the Lady Vols are set to take on No. 2 Stanford at Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge. Racing is slated to begin at 7:45 a.m. ET.
Â
A season ago, in Tennessee's first year under head coach Kim Cupini, the Lady Vols recorded the best season in program history. Tennessee ascended to No. 3 in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association's (CRCA) national rankings by season's end and placed third nationally at the NCAA Championship.
The event Saturday will be hosted by the Oak Ridge Rowing Association.
Â
Following an exhibition race, Tennessee's top-four crews will be in action beginning with the 2V4 at 8 a.m. UT's 1V4, 2V4 and 1V8 crews will follow suit in 15-minute intervals.
Â
The regatta is free for all fans and the shoreline along the lake offers plenty of prime viewership areas to watch the races. Parking and quick access to the shoreline can be found at the Oak Ridge Rowing Association (697 Melton Lake Dr, Oak Ridge, TN 37830).
In Tuesday's latest CRCA coaches poll, Tennessee checked in at No. 3 nationally. Stanford is currently ranked second.
On Feb. 26, Tennessee senior Alice Fahey and junior Hannah Smith were each included on the CRCA's Athletes to Watch listing.
