KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Three podiums and two top ten performances highlighted a strong start to the competition for Tennessee in the UT Diving Invite.
The day got started with a big prelim performance from Bennett Greene. Greene finished the prelims with a 410.25 in the 1-meter, moving the Knoxville-Native to 6th in program history. He followed that performance up by taking the final in the 1-meter with a score of 401.10. He was joined on the podium by Nick Stone, who finished with a 336.40 for second place.
Junior Lynae Shorter joined in on the action for the Big Orange, adding herself to the record books. Shorter finished the 3-meter final with a score of 343.90. That mark moves Shorter into the all-time program record book, with the 5th-best score in the event. The score also allowed Shorter to earn a second place finish to get her action started this week.
The Vols and Lady Vols return to the pool tomorrow for Day two of the UT Diving Invite. The women will be competing in the 1-meter, while the men will take on the 3-meter event. The prelims will begin at 10 a.m., with finals slated to start at 2 p.m. Tomorrow also begins the CSCAA Dual Meet Challenge, with Tennessee facing Michigan. Tennessee is slated to begin its weekend in the meet at 6 p.m.
