#9 Vols Earn Victory over Wolverines in First Night of CSCAA Dual Meet Challenge

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The No. 9 Tennessee men's swim team got its start to the CSCAA Dual Meet Challenge strong, finishing with a win over Michigan 24-16 at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatics Center. The No. 8 Tennessee Lady Vols dropped its match-up against Michigan by a score of 17-23.
Koby Bujak-Upton and Nikoli Blackman got the men started with first and second place finishes in the 200 Free. Bujak-Upton earned first place with a time of 1:31.30, moving the Australian to second all-time. Blackman touched the wall in second with a time of 1:32.09, putting him third in program history. Pedro Sansone got in on the winning action, taking first place in the 100 Free. His time in the event of 41.85 moved Sansone into the top 10 record books at sixth. Sansone would also move into the top ten in the 50 Free, with the sophomore notching a time of 19.05.
Gui Caribe had a big day for the Big Orange. Caribe earned his first win in the dual in the 50 Free, coming in with a 18.95. Caribe swam the anchor leg in the 400 Free relay, leading the team to the victory and securing the dual against the Wolverines with a time of 2:47.93. Joined in the relay by Blackman, Sansone, and Bujak-Upton, the group moved their way into fifth all-time. Caribe also played a role in another top 10 relay, joined by Ulises Saravia, Gabe Nunziata, Kamal Muhammad to set the ninth-best time in program history in the 400 Medley Relay of 3:05.21. Saravia also picked up a win in the dual, earning a victory in the 100 Back with a time of 45.85.
Anthony Laurito and Jake McCoy finished 2-3 in the 400 IM. For Laurito, he moved to third in program history in the event with a time of 3:42.91. For McCoy, the freshman made his debut in the program record books with the seventh-fastest time of 3:45.02.
Camille Spink had a pair of victories for the Lady Vols, earning wins in both the 50 Free (21.25) and 100 Free (46.67). Spink, as a member of the 400 Free Relay team with Emily Armen, Julianna Bocksa, Ella Jansen, set the fourth-best time in program history of 3:09.73. Armen also etched her name on the top ten list individually, finishing the 100 Free in 47.81 to put her sixth in Tennessee history.
McKenzie Siroky got a win for the Lady Vols, finishing in first in the 100 Breast at 58.24. Siroky also earned a second place finish in the 400 Medley Relay, joined by Alyssa Claborn, Emily Brown, and Camille Spink with a time of 3:29.25.
On the diving side, Bennett Greene won his second event of the weekend, taking the 3-meter springboard competition on Friday while setting the ninth-best score in program history at 427.65. He was followed by the duo of Thomas Ciprick and Frazer Tavener, who each finished with scores of 394.80 and 380.80 as the Vols finished 1-2-3 in the event. Tavener's score of 380.80 also marked a personal best. On the women's side, Lynae Shorter took home second place in the 1-meter with a score of 302.35.

The Dual Meet Challenge continues tomorrow, with the men's team will face Arizona State in a winner's bracket match-up at 12 p.m., while the women will face Arizona State at 3 p.m. Both duals will be streamed on SEC Network+. The UT Diving Invite closes tomorrow with Combined Platform, with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and the finals getting underway at 1:45 p.m. The finals of the platform event will also be streamed on SEC Network+.

- Ella Jansen notched a second place finish in the 400 IM, finishing the race in a time of 4:04.72.
- Emily Brown had a podium finish in the 100 Fly on the evening thanks to a time in the event of 52.10.
- Regan Rathwell (52.65) and Lexi Stephens (52.77) finished a close 100 Back event in second and third respectively.
- Emelie Fast has a top three finish in the dual, finishing third overall in the 100 Breast with a time of 58.69.
