
Jones & Middleton-Pearson Headline Tennessee’s Run at South Regionals

Tallahassee, Fla. – Christopher Middleton-Pearson and Ashley Jones powered Tennessee to third and fourth-place finishes Friday morning at the 2024 NCAA South Regional. The Vols placed third in the men's 10k with 109 points, while the Lady Vols were fourth in the 6k at 123 points.
With their respective finishes, both squads will wait for the NCAA Selection Show to determine their NCAA Championship fate. The selection show will air on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. ET.
Running at Apalachee Regional Park, Jones placed eighth overall for the Lady Vols at 20:12.6, garnering All-South Region honors for the second year in a row. Coming across in 20:29.9, Jillian Candelino earned all-region accolades with a 22nd-place finish.
Caroline Lyerly (20:37.0) and Rachel Sutliff (20:38.3) finished 26th and 30th, respectively, while freshman Rebecca O'Keefe rounded out UT's top five in 37th at 20:43.0.
For the men, Middleton-Pearson turned in an impressive fourth-place performance with a finishing time of 29:44.8. The first-year Vol clinched All-South Region honors with the placement. Pavel Vinduska (30:41.5) and Gabriel Sanchez (30:42.9) crossed the line back-to-back in 23rd and 24th. Both runners garnered all-region accolades.
They were followed closely by Aaron Jones (30:56.7) in 28th and Hudson Betts (30:57.7), who rounded out the pack in 30th.
