KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – No. 22 Tennessee heads to Lexington this weekend to take on Kentucky at the brand-new Kentucky Proud Park.
The Volunteers are in search of their first SEC road series win and will look to carry the momentum they gained from last weekend's series victory over No. 2 Georgia.

- Tennessee went 3-1 last week with two more top-five wins, making it four total victories for the Vols over teams ranked in the top-five this season.
- The Vols improved to 10-1 in midweek games this season with a 3-1 victory over Morehead State on Tuesday night. UT held the Eagles' high-scoring offense to just one run on five hits. Freshman right hander Camden Sewell got the start and threw five solid innings to improve to 3-0 on the year.
- The Big Orange moved back into the top-25 this week, jumping to No. 22 in the USA Today Coaches' Poll and NCBWA Poll as well as No. 25 in the D1Baseball.com Top 25 and the Perfect Game Top 25.
- Tennessee posted back-to-back shutouts in the first two games of its series vs. No. 2 Georgia last week, bringing its total to eight for the season which ranks first in the nation.
- It was the first time the Vols have shut out an SEC opponent in back-to-back games since blanking South Carolina (8-0) and Georgia (11-0) in the SEC Eastern Division Tournament on May 19 and May 20, 1995. It is also just the second time in program history that UT had recorded consecutive shutouts in an SEC series. The first was April 14-15, 1967 at Kentucky with wins of 7-0 and 2-0.
- Tennessee's pitching staff enters this weekend's series ranked No. 5 in the country in ERA (2.83), No. 3 in WHIP (1.07), No. 3 in walks allowed per nine innings (1.07) and No. 5 in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.39).
- The series win over the Bulldogs was Tennessee's the first over a top-five opponent since April of 2016 when the Vols took two of three from No. 4 Vanderbilt.
- Junior ace Garrett Stallings was named SEC Pitcher of the Week on Monday after a dominant performance last Friday night. Stallings threw his first-career complete game shutout to lead UT to a series-clinching victory. The Virginia native scattered five hits and walked just one batter while striking out five to improve to 6-2 on the year.
- Sophomore Garrett Crochet made his first start of the season in Thursday's series opener and tossed five shutout innings. Crochet is set to start this Thursday's series opener against the Wildcats.
- Junior reliever Andrew Schultz earned his first win of the season in the series opener after allowing just one hit over two scoreless innings. Redshirt sophomore Redmond Walsh did not allow a run over the final two innings to earn his fifth save of the year.
- Walsh picked up his third save in as many appearances on Tuesday night against Morehead State, retiring all three batters he faced with two strikeouts.

- Kentucky was picked to finish sixth in the Eastern Division of the SEC Preseason Coaches' Poll after a fifth-place finish in 2018.
- The Wildcats had two preseason All-SEC selections in DH/UTL T.J. Collett and LHP Zack Thompson.
- UK is coached by Nick Mingione, who is in his third year as head coach of the program. He led the Wildcats to an NCAA Super Regional appearance during his first season in charge in 2017.
- Kentucky is coming off its first SEC series win of the season after taking two of three games from Ole Miss on the road last weekend.
- Collett leads the Cats with nine home runs and 36 RBI while Ryan Shinn leads the team with 41 hits and 31 runs scored.
- Junior left hander Zack Thompson has been a bright spot for UK's pitching staff that has struggled for the most part this season. Thompson ranks third in the SEC with 82 strikeouts and enters the series with a 3-0 record and 2.10 ERA.
