Vols Duo Falls in Opener at National Indoors

NEW YORK -- Tennessee's Jack Schipanski and Luis Valero lost their opening-round match Thursday at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships.
Schipanski and Valero won the second set and led the deciding 10-point tiebreaker early before losing to Michigan's Jathan Malik and Kevin Wong 6-3, 1-6, [10-8] at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
The Vols will play consolation Friday.
This tournament marked Schipanski and Valero's first appearance at the National Indoors. They had made the second round of the NCAA championships in May and the ITA All-American last month.
