Vols 11th After First Day At Illini Invitational

The Tennessee men???s golf team shot a scorecard of 289-303--592 to be 32 over par and in 11th place after the first day the 2007 Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational held at Olympia Fields Country Club in Chicago.
Olympia Fields, a par-70, 7,200-yard course, has more than 90 years of history and has been the site of 18 major championships throughout the years, including the 2003 U.S. Open.
The third and final round begins Monday morning at 8:45 a.m. Eastern time.
Junior Chris Paisley paced the Vols in 25th place. He started off the day well with a 1-over-par 71 in the first round before struggling with a 6-over-par 76 in the second round.
Senior Charlie Ford was next for the Vols tied for 30th place. Ford fired a 74 in both rounds to end with a 54-hole total of 148 heading into the final day.
Philip Pettitt fired an even-par 70 in the first round and was in 14th but dropped into a tie for 40th place with a 9-over-par 79 in the second round.
Redshirt freshman Cameron Lawrence shot a scorecard of 74-76--150 to finish the day tied for 45th place.
Robin Wingardh rounded out the lineup for Tennessee. The freshman carded a 2-over-par 72 in the first round and finished tied for 50th place after a 79 in the second round.
Oklahoma State took the lead in the team standings with a 5-under-par 275 in the second round. Texas is three strokes back in second with Florida State, Indiana and Stanford rounding out the top five.
