TENNIS VOLS KEEP ROLLING; DEFEAT VANDERBILT 6-1

The Tennessee men's tennis ran its win streak to six matches Friday afternoon with a 6-1 victory over 38th-ranked Vanderbilt at the Currey Tennis Center in Nashville. The Vols' six match win streak is the longest since the team went on an 11-match win streak in 2002.
"It was a great team effort," head coach Sam Winterbotham said. "It seems like we're competing and really establishing ourselves as a tough team, and that's something you need to be a great team, you need that commitment from the players."
Tennessee (13-4, 5-2 SEC) won the doubles point for the fifth time in seven SEC matches. Kaden Hensel and Kiril Tcherveniachki won their second straight match defeating Andy Mack and Jordan Magarik 8-5 at No. 3 doubles. UT's Adam Hubble and Ben Rogers clinched the doubles point for the Big Orange for the sixth time this season when they defeated Vijay Paul and Ryan Preston at the No. 1 position. Hubble and Rogers are 12-2 in dual-match doubles play this season.
Rogers got the Volunteers off to a fast start in singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Evan Dufaux at No. 3 singles. The UT senior is 6-1 this season in singles during SEC play and 14-3 overall in singles during dual-match play.
Bobby Cameron extended the Vols lead to 3-0 with a win over No. 125 Nik Cromydas 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 2 position. Cameron's victory over Cromydas is his first victory over a ranked opponent since defeating Slavko Radman of Louisville back in January.
Tcherveniachki clinched the win for UT with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 win over Nathan Sachs at the No. 5 position. Tcherveniachki has won all seven of his SEC singles matches and is 13-1 overall in singles in dual-match play.
Hensel defeated a ranked opponent for the 10th time this season when he got past 63rd-ranked Preston 6-1, 6-7, 6-2 at the No. 1 position. Hensel is now 7-3 this season at the No. 1 position in the lineup.
Davey Sandgren gave UT its fifth and final singles victory. The UT freshman improved his record in three-set matches to 13-3 with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Paul at the No. 3 position.
Vanderbilt (8-9, 2-5 SEC) got its point when Mack defeated UT's Chris Racz in straight-sets at the No. 6 position. Racz was 8-0 in dual-match singles before the loss to Mack.
