Vol Linksters Ninth After First Round

The Tennessee men???s golf team fired a 2-over-par 290 to find itself in 9th place after the first round at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges played Friday in Jonesborough, Tenn.
Junior Chris Paisley paced the Vols with a 2-under-par 70. Paisley scattered six birdies on the day including four on the back nine but a double-bogey on the 15th hurt his final score.
Competing as an individual, Ben Spickard fired a 1-under-par 71. The senior is tied for 11th heading into the second round.
Senior Phillip Pettitt shot an even-par 72 and sits tied for 23rd.
Sophomore David Holmes was next for Tennessee. In his first appearance this season, Holmes fired a 1-over-par 73 and is tied for 32nd place.
Junior Charlie Ford and freshman Robin Wingardh rounded out the Volunteer lineup. The pair recorded rounds of 3-over-par 75 and are tied for 52nd.
ETSU fired a 6-under-par 282 to take the lead in the team standings. Kentucky in one stroke back in second place with a team score of 283. Wake Forest is third, four strokes back of first with Auburn and Virginia Tech tied for fourth at 1 under par.
Kentucky???s Ben Fuqua took a one-stroke lead in the individual with a 5-under-par 67 in the first round. ETSU???s Rhys Enoch, South Carolina???s Patrick Rada and Virginia Tech???s Drew Weaver are all tied for second. Auburn???s Glenn Northcutt rounded out the top five with a 3-under-par 69.
The second round is scheduled to begin Saturday morning.
