TENNIS VOLS BLOW PAST FURMAN, 6-1

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee men's tennis team defeated No. 68 Furman 6-1 Saturday on an overcast day at the UT Varsity Courts to win its fourth match in a row.
Tennessee (5-1) improved to 5-0 this season when it captures the doubles point. Sophomore duo Bobby Cameron and Kaden Hensel got the Vols started defeating Brian Crook and Bo Ladyman 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. After Furman (5-7) captured the No. 3 doubles match, UT looked to its No. 1 duo of Adam Hubble and Ben Rogers to supply the Vols the point. The No. 1 duo did not disappoint as they defeated Greg Maarschalk and Ben Pauluhn 8-3 to give Tennessee an early 1-0 lead.
Rogers stayed hot as he defeated Crook at No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-0 to give Tennessee a 2-0 lead. Cameron quickly extended Tennessee's lead to 3-0, with his victory at the No. 1 position 6-4, 6-0 over Pauluhn.
Hubble clinched the match for UT with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Ladyman at the No. 4 slot.
Derek Stephens and David Baxendine both won in singles also. Stephens defeated Daniel Knause 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 6 position and Baxendine won at the No. 3 slot 7-5, 6-3, over Maarschalk.
Furman's Andy Juc prevented a Tennessee sweep by defeating Hensel 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
Tennessee begins SEC conference play next weekend when it travels to Baton Rouge for a Friday night tussle with LSU and Fayetteville to face Arkansas on Sunday.
