Mount, Rattan Tie for Sixth at Southern Amateur Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Former Tennessee men's golfer John Scott Rattan (2002-05) and current sophomore-to-be Jonathan Mount each turned in a one-over-par score of 281 to finish tied for sixth at the 99th Southern Amateur Championship July 13-16 at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club. Sophomore-to-be Ben Spickard posted a final score of 286 to finish in a tie for 19th place.
Consistent throughout the event, Rattan fired a 69-70-71-71--281, while Mount -- a native of Kingston, Tenn. -- rallied in the final round to record a 74-69-72-66--281. Spickard's scorecards read 71-72-69-74--286, making him six-over for the tournament.
A 30-minute highlight show of the Southern Amateur will be aired by Fox Sports Net South five times in August.
