Martin and Rogers Triumphant in Singles at UT Fall Classic

Tennessee men's tennis players Rawl Martin and Ben Rogers both won their singles matches Sunday on the final day of the UT Fall Classic.
Rogers won his second match of the tournament by defeating Vanderbilt's Andy Mack 6-4, 3-6, (11-9). Martin playing on the court next to Rogers held on to beat Vanderbilt's Ryan Preston 6-4, 1-6, (10-8).
Ockie Oosthuizen playing a ranked opponent for the third straight day fell to Vanderbilt's Scott Brown 6-3, 1-6, 6-4. Oosthuizen rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the third set to tie it at four but could not finish the rally dropping the last two games. Kiril Tcherveniachki playing a ranked opponent for the second straight day battled Matt Lockin to the very end but could not capture a victory. The UT sophomore raced ahead in the second set but could not hold the lead and ultimately succumbed to Lockin 6-4, 7-5.
Oosthuizen and Rogers encountered MTSU's Brandon Allan and Kai Schledorn in doubles. The match was very close and was last tied at six but MTSU won the final 2 games to capture the victory. Martin and Tcherveniachki teamed up in the other doubles match and fell to MTSU's Greg Pollack and Anant Sitaram 8-5.
The Vols next appearance will be Nov. 5-7 at the UNLV Fall Classic in Las Vegas, Nev.
