Top-Seed James Blake Moves on at USTA / UT Challenger

Top-seeded James Blake
won his quarterfinal match Friday at the USTA/UT Challenger being held at the
Goodfriend Tennis Center on the UT campus.
Blake, ranked No. 74 in the world, defeated fellow American and No. 8 seed Vincent
Spadea 6-4, 6-2 to advance to Saturday's semifinal round. Blake's
semifinal opponent will be No. 184-ranked Jeff Morrison. Morrison, the 1999
NCAA singles champion from Florida, defeated Jeff Salzenstein Friday 6-7, 6-4,
6-3. Blake, the only remaining seeded player, and Morrison will meet at noon
Saturday.
Joining Blake and Morrison in the semifinal round will be Robby Ginepri of the
U.S. and qualifier Gabriel Trifu of Romania. Ginepri ousted No. 5 seed Cecil
Mamiit Friday to advance. Ginepri upended Mamiit 7-6(5), 6-7(5), 6-4 a day after
ousting No. 2 seed Michael Chang. Trifu defeated Israel's Noam Okun 6-1,
6-4 to set up an 11 a.m. meeting with Ginepri Saturday.
