Rowing Central: #1 Lady Vols Travel to Georgia For 2026 NCAA Championships

GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- The No. 1 Tennessee rowing team is back on the water this weekend as they travel to the Peach State for the 2026 NCAA Rowing Championships May 29-31. This year's event is located at Lake Lanier Olympic Park, site of the rowing events for the 1996 Olympics.
* - Due to inclement weather forecasted for Saturday, semifinals have been currently moved to Friday. Heats for Friday will now begin at 8:34 a.m., with the new proposed start time for semifinals on Friday at 4:04 p.m.

The Lady Vols come in as the top ranked team in the country after capturing the SEC Championship back on May 10. All three boats classes have qualified for the championship regatta, with the 1V8 holding as the one seed, the 2V8 as the eight seed, and the 1V4 earning the five seed.

This marks the 12th appearance all-time for the Lady Vols at the NCAA Championships, and their third straight under head coach Kim Cupini. Under Cupini, the Lady Vols have had their most successful run in program history, placing in the top five in back-to-back seasons. UT placed third overall in 2024 for its highest finish ever and then followed it up with a fifth place finish at the 2025 championships.

Division I races get underway on Friday morning at 9:48 a.m. ET. There will be four heats for each boat class (1V8, 2V8, 1V4). The top three crews in each heat will advance to the AB semifinals, with the remaining crews moving on to the CD semis.

The I Eight gets the weekend started for the Lady Vols, as it goes off in the first heat at 8:34 a.m. The II Eight follows with its heat at 9:06 a.m., with the Four closing out day one of competition at 10:06 a.m. Semifinals will have been moved to Friday afternoon due to inclement weather in the forecast for Saturday. Semifinals are scheduled to begin on Friday at 4:04 p.m. Finals are scheduled for Sunday, to get underway at 8:12 a.m.
