Garcia Tabbed To 2025-26 SEC Community Service Team
April 09, 2026 | Men's Tennis
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee sophomore Jose Garcia has been named to the 2026 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, the league office announced Wednesday.
All league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men's and women's sports being chosen from 1999-2003.
The Knoxville native is pursuing a bachelor's degree in finance with a collateral in marketing.
Garcia has set out since becoming a UT Volunteer to give back to the community that helped raise him. He demonstrated servant leadership by taking part in a fundraiser for the Knoxville Symphony over the past year.
Garcia also is focused on growing the Knoxville tennis community in which he was raised. He worked at tennis clinics for both juniors and adults at the Knoxville Racquet Club as well as taking part in a Pro-Am and clinic for Cherokee Country Club.
Garcia has taken a huge step in his second year of college, moving from playing on court four as a freshman to courts one and two as a sophomore. He has been elite in this role with wins over No. 38 Jack Loutit from Kentucky and No. 86 Billy Blaydes from Oklahoma. During that time, Garcia was on a hot streak and in the process of winning seven matches in a row. His performance awarded him recognition on the ITA rankings list for the first time in his career at No. 78. The sophomore rounded out the year with a 17-13 record in singles.
