Murphy Named SEC Golfer of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee redshirt junior Bruce Murphy has been selected as the SEC Golfer of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Murphy earns the honor after collecting a victory at the Coach Sykes Individual this past weekend, finishing atop a field of 76 golfers at 10-under-par.
Murphy opened the tournament on Saturday morning with a hole-in-one on his first hole of the day and didn't look back. He closed the first round with a 4-under-par 67, before further excelling with a bogey-free 6-under-par 65 in round two, his best single-round score of the season.
Initially planned to be a 54-hole tournament, the third and final round of the Coach Sykes Individual was canceled on Sunday, meaning Murphy's prolific 36-hole effort was enough to secure the title.
After earning his first individual win and SEC Golfer of the Week honor at the same event in 2024, Murphy repeats the combination with this week's honor for the second conference golfer of the week award and second victory of his career.
Murphy and the No. 18/20 Vols will return to action at the Cabo Collegiate next week, with round one set for Sunday, March 1.
