Preview: #8/#11 Tennessee Heads to Athens for Dual Meet Against #7/#16 Georgia

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The No. 8/11 Tennessee swimming and diving teams head to Athens, Georgia to take on the No. 7/16 Georgia in the Vols and Lady Vols first dual meet of the 2026 calendar. The meet is slated to start at 1 p.m. ET, and will be streamed on SEC Network+ with live results available on Meet Mobile.
In its last outing in the pool, Tennessee took home victories over Kentucky at home. The Lady Vols took victories in 14 of 16 events en route to a 205.5-93.5 win over the Wildcats. Ella Jansen led the way for the Lady Vols, with the sophomore a part of three wins in the dual. Jansen took home wins in both the 200 Fly and 200 Back, while closing out her day with a part of the 400 Free Relay team which took the win in the event. Jansen climb up the top 10 lists for the Lady Vols in both the 200 Fly and 200 Back, moving to fifth all-time in the 200 Fly and seventh in the 200 Back. Camille Spink also picked up a pair of wins for the Lady Vols against Kentucky, taking first place in the 100 and 200 Free.
On the men's side, the Vols notched an impressive win over the Wildcats 171.66-123.33. Martin Espernberger had a dominant day at the pool, winning both the 100 and 200 Fly. Nikoli Blackman also had a strong day for the Vols, with wins in the 50 and 100 Free. Ulises Saravia also doubled up on wins against the Wildcats, taking both the 100 and 200 Back for the Vols. Gabe Nunziata and Koby Bujak-Upton each added wins for the Vols in the dual, with Nunziata finishing first in the 100 Back and Bujak-Upton touching the wall first in the 200 Free.
The divers were last in action earlier this month in the Tennessee Diving Invitational. Lynae Shorter won the women's 3-meter event with a score of 338.10, while also earning second place in the women's 1-meter. Thomas Ciprick earned a two top-three finishes at the diving invitational, finishing in second place in the 3-meter and third in the 1-meter. Bennett Greene kept up his strong season for the Vols, taking second place in the men's 1-meter event.
After this meet, the Vols and Lady Vols will return home for their final dual meet of the season, hosting Duke Jan. 30-31 at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. The first day of the dual meet is scheduled to begin at 3:45 p.m. ET. Day two of the dual will also serve as Senior Day, with competition slated to start at 10 a.m. ET.
