Track Central: 2025 SEC Outdoor Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Outdoor postseason gets underway this week for Tennessee track & field as more than 50 UT athletes have traveled to Lexington, Kentucky, for the 2025 SEC Outdoor Championships. The conference meet runs Thursday through Saturday, May 15-17 at the University of Kentucky Outdoor Track and Field Facility.
The meet kicks off for Tennessee with freshman Aidan Ifkovits competing in the men's hammer throw at 2:15 p.m. ET on Thursday. Running events start on the track at 5:30 p.m. with Ka'Myya Haywood competing in the women's 800-meter prelims. The first running finals of the meet will take place Thursday night with three Lady Vols entered in the women's 10,000-meter at 7:40 p.m.
Day two begins at 3:30 p.m. with Mikele Vickers in the women's long jump. Running prelims continue in the evening, beginning at 5 p.m. with three Lady Vols on the track for the women's 100-meter hurdles. The men's and women's 3,000-meter steeplechase finals are respectively set for Friday at 8:00 and 8:20 p.m.
The conference championships will wrap up Saturday, starting at 2:30 p.m. with Tennessee rookie Donna Douglas representing UT in the women's discus throw. Running finals start at approximately 6:05 p.m. with the women's 4x100-meter relay and conclude with the men's 4x400-meter relay at 9:40 p.m.
Third-year head coach Duane Ross leads Tennessee into battle with a pair of top-25 squads, with the Vols ranked third and the Lady Vols No. 25 in the latest release of the USTFCCCA national track & field rating index. Additionally, the UT men are slotted No. 4 in the coaches' association SEC power index released on Tuesday.
FOLLOW LIVE: The 2025 SEC Outdoor Championships will be streamed online all three days via SEC Network+, available at espn.com/watch or the ESPN app. Saturday's evening session will be televised on SEC Network. The broadcast crew includes Dwight Stones, Dan O'Brien, John Anderson and Larra Overton.
