Six Tennessee Swimmers Garner CSC Academic All-District Honors

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Excelling in the pool and in the classroom, Tennessee swimming & diving had six representatives on the men's and women's 2025 Academic All-District Teams, College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced Tuesday.

For the third year in a row, Brooklyn Douthwright, Josephine Fuller and Mona McSharry earned spots on the women's team, while Martin Espernberger earned his second recognition. Björn Kammann and Camille Spink garnered the distinction for the first time in their careers. Overall, the Lady Vols boast 25 All-District selections all time, while the Vols have earned 18 All-District honors.

Previously known as CoSIDA, the teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and the classroom. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America selections will be announced later this month.

A two-time CSC Academic All-American, Douthwright boasts a 3.82 GPA as a Biomedical Engineering major. The 2024 Paris Olympian is also a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection. She's a two-time NCAA silver medalist (200 free in 2023, 400 free relay in 2025) and owns 12 SEC medals, including four gold, for her career. She garnered 10 All-American honors and was a four-time All-SEC Team member.

Named the 2024 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a First Team CSC Academic All-American, Espernberger holds a 3.91 GPA as an Electrical Engineering major. The Paris Olympian placed fifth overall in the 200 fly last week at the NCAA Championships, marking the best finish by a Vol in the event since 1991 and earning him First Team All-America status.

Fuller is also a two-time CSC Academic All-American and three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll recipient, owning a 3.86 GPA while pursuing a degree in Psychology. Throughout her career, she's won five medals at the NCAA Championships, including three silver, and earned 21 All-America honors. The four-time All-SEC honoree boasts 19 medals from the conference championships. She ended her collegiate career as the Lady Vol record holder in the 100 and 200 backstrokes.

A two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection, Kammann is a Civil Engineering major with a 3.50 GPA. The senior wrapped up his collegiate career last week by earning his best individual finish at the NCAA Championships, placing ninth overall in the 200 fly to earn All-America Second Team honors.

A two-time CSC Academic All-America First Team member, McSharry earned her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with a 3.57 GPA and is now pursuing a master's in Agricultural Leadership, Education, & Communication. The two-time Olympian leaves Rocky Top as one of the most decorated athletes of all time, boasting seven SEC titles in the breaststrokes, five NCAA medals and the SEC record holder in the 100 breast (56.64). She was a 28-time All-American and brought home 25 total medals from the SEC Championships.

Holding a 3.81 GPA as a Sport Management major, Spink capped her sophomore campaign with a bronze medal in the 100 free at the NCAA Championships and also took fourth in the 50 free. She was also a member of the 400 free and 400 medley relays that won silver. At the SEC Championships, she became the first Lady Vol ever and the first SEC swimmer since 2007 to sweep the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles. She earned Co-Commissioner's Trophy honors as the highest point scorer at the meet.
