Rowing Central: Big Ten Invitational

SARASOTA, Fla. – The sixth-ranked Tennessee rowing team is geared up for the Big Ten Invitational, running Friday-Saturday this weekend in Sarasota at Nathan Benderson Park.

Eleven Big Ten programs and 12 other invitees make up the loaded 23-team field.

Schools competing at the event are No. 3 Washington, No. 6 Tennessee, No. 7 Brown, No. 9 Rutgers, No. 11 Penn, No. 12 Michigan, No. 14 Ohio State, No. 16 Duke, No. 17 Oregon State, No. 18 Harvard, No. 20 Oklahoma, No. 21 Indiana, No. 24 USC, UCLA, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Iowa, Alabama, Notre Dame, Miami, SMU and Clemson.

In all, 13 of the field's teams are ranked in the top 25 of the CRCA's national poll, with 11 in the top 20, seven in the top 14 and four in the top nine.

The Lady Vols are set for a packed weekend of action on the water, beginning with a full day of races Friday. The morning kicks off at 9:10 a.m. for UT, with the 2V4, followed by the 1V4, 2V8, and 1V8 in quick succession. Later in the morning, the 3V8 crew will wrap up the early session, racing at 12:10 p.m.

Each of those above crews will be back in action Friday afternoon. The 3V8 (3:05 p.m.) will launch first, followed by another round of 2V4, 1V4, 2V8, and 1V8 starting at 4:15 p.m. to close out the day.

Saturday's session begins at 8:30 a.m. with the 3V8, and continues with all remaining boats racing in Flight One.

Spectator parking will be available at 5851 Nathan Benderson Circle, Sarasota FL 34235. Parking is $15 per day. Cash and card payment are accepted. There is no additional admission fee other than parking.
