#6 Tennessee Remains Undefeated at Home, Knocking off #64 Mississippi State, 4-0

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The sixth-ranked Tennessee women's tennis team earned its tenth-ranked win of the season, posting a 4-0 win against No. 64 Mississippi State on Sunday afternoon at Barksdale Stadium.Â

The Lady Vols have now tallied five straight victories over the Bulldogs, a streak that dates back to April 20, 2021, when UT tallied a 4-0 win at the SEC Tournament in Fayetteville.

Tennessee (13-3, 7-2 SEC) continued its hot streak in doubles, winning two courts against Mississippi State (10-9, 0-9 SEC) to secure an early 1-0 lead over the Bulldogs.. The 44th-ranked duo of Leyla Britez Risso and Catherine Aulia were the first to finish their match, winning 6-2 against Emma Cohen and Alessia Tagliente. Elza Tomase and Maeve Thornton finished things off, grabbing a 6-3 result over Athina Ptta and Carolina Troiano on court one.Â

UT started off strong in singles play, earning first-set victories on all six courts. For the day, the Lady Vols did not lose a singular set, securing straight-set victories in every match. No. 32 Aulia secured the first victory, knocking off Tagliente, 6-2, 6-4. The other two courts were won by No. 7 Tomase against Troiano, 6-3, 7-5, and Vanesa Suarez versus Chiara Di Genova, 6-2, 6-1.
