Post-NCAA Championship Notes | Coleman Presser | Alford-Sullivan/Hall Presser
Tennessee junior Christian Coleman, director of track & field/cross country Beth Alford-Sullivan and assistant coach (sprints) Tim Hall talked to the media on Monday at Ray and Lucy Hand Digital Studio.
Coleman talked after winning the 2017 60m and 200m Indoor National Champion, posting times of 6.45 and 20.11 seconds in his two races this past weekend. He is just the third person in the past 30 years and the first in the last 15 years to win both championships in the same meet, joining VFL Justin Gatlin (2002) and Kim Collins (2001). His .09-second margin of victory in the 60m was the largest margin of victory in NCAA Championship history.
Coleman tied the collegiate record in the 60m and posted the second-best collegiate time ever in the 200m. His 200m mark was also the fourth-best time ever recorded for an indoor 200m. Coleman is the first male to have all-time top-10 collegiate marks in both the 60m and 200m, and both rank in the top two. Both marks established new Tennessee indoor school records.
