Ross Announces Staff Updates For Tennessee Track & Field
July 08, 2026 | Track & Field
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee head coach and director of track & field Duane Ross announced two updates to his coaching staff Wednesday, promoting Devin West to associate head coach while welcoming Mackenzie Landa back to Rocky Top as director of operations for track & field and cross country.
West enters his third season at Tennessee in 2026-27 after serving the previous two campaigns as recruiting coordinator and assistant coach for sprints, hurdles and relays. He most recently helped guide the Vols and Lady Vols to their best combined performance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in more than three decades, as Tennessee's men finished third nationally and the women placed 11th at the 2026 outdoor national meet.
Over the past two seasons, West has helped coach Tennessee's sprinters, hurdlers and relay squads to 63 USTFCCCA All-America honors and 12 SEC medal-winning performances. He has also established himself as one of the nation's top recruiters, playing a pivotal role in attracting elite domestic and international high school prospects as well as impact additions through the transfer portal.
"This promotion is a reflection of everything Devin has meant to our program over the last two years," Ross said. "He's an exceptional coach and recruiter, but what really sets him apart is the way he invests in our student-athletes every day. He's helped elevate our program in every area, and I'm excited to recognize the impact he's had as we continue building toward championships."
Landa returns to Knoxville for her second stint with the program after spending the 2025-26 academic year as director of track & field operations at the University of Arizona. Prior to that, she served as Tennessee's director of operations for the cross country and distance program from 2022-25.
As director of operations, Landa will oversee the day-to-day administrative operations for Tennessee track & field and cross country, including team travel, budget management, home meet logistics, equipment and apparel coordination and organizational support for the program's student-athletes and coaching staff.
"We're excited to welcome Mackenzie back to Tennessee," Ross said. "She made a remarkable impact during her first stint here, and there was never any doubt she'd fit right back into our culture. She's incredibly organized, she cares deeply about our student-athletes, and she allows our coaches to focus on coaching because she handles so many important pieces behind the scenes."
