In a coaching role, he helped the Vols to back-to-back SEC team titles in 2010 and 2011 and the 2010 NCAA team final. He has worked with three No. 1-ranked singles players (John-Patrick Smith, Rhyne Williams and Mikelis Libietis) and three No. 1-ranked doubles team (Smith/Davey Sandgren, Smith/Boris Conkic and Libietis/Hunter Reese). Libietis and Reese won the 2014 NCAA doubles title.
Voges was a member of the Vols from 1982-85, serving as team captain his final two years. He has been influential to the sport of tennis in east Tennessee his entire professional career. He was the head coach at McCallie School for 29 years and is now the program’s director of operations. The indoor tennis facility is named after him.
Fittingly, Voges and Woodruff are being inducted together. Voges served as one of Woodruff’s coaches.
