UT Finishes 7th In Carpet Capital Collegiate

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee men's golf program concluded their 2016-17 season opener in Rocky Face, Ga. on Sunday. At the Carpet Capital Collegiate, Tennessee shot 1-over 865 and took seventh in the event.

The Vols totaled for 45 birdies and led the field in total pars with 176.
Sophomore Felipe Strobach was the frontrunner for the Vols throughout the tournament. Strobach shot a low 70 during the first round and totaled for 40 pars, the most in the event. Strobach tied for 19th after shooting 1-under 215.
Senior Lorenzo Scalise increased his rank on the leaderboard after posting 2-over 218. Scalise combined for 38 pars and added four birdies to Tennessee's card.
Along with Scalise, freshman Hunter Wolcott and Brayden Garrison tied for 30th. Wolcott shot three birdies while Garrison led the Vols roster with a total of 13.
Senior Jack Smith was third overall for most eagles with a total of two for the event. Smith shot 6-over 222 and tied for 49th.
Senior Juan Carlos Serrano Guevara entered the three-day tournament as an individual and carded four birdies. Guevara shot 10-over 226 in the event.
The Vols will resume play at the Jackrabbit Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 25.
