Merzbacher finished in a tie for eighth, marking his third top 10 finish of the season, after shooting a 2-over 218 for the tournament. He carded a 1-over 73 in the final round Sunday, highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 11th hole.
The Vols placed fourth in the Hayt after posting a 19-over 883 for the tournament. The finish marks the team's second-best result of the season. Tennessee finished third in the Bank of Tennessee Invitational.
Freshman Nicklas Mattner's overall 8-over led to his best tournament result in his collegiate career. Despite struggling on the final day of the tournament, Mattner finished in a tie for 30th.
Senior Michael Nagy shot a team-best 3-under 69 in the final round of the Hayt. Nagy birdied five on the day, the most he birdied in any round over the weekend. Nagy finished in a tie for 27th and has posted a round in the 60s in two consecutive tournaments.
Lorenzo Scalise also carded a below par final round with a 1-under 71. The Italian was 3-under through 10 holes before reaching the difficult back nine.
Juan Carlos Serrano Guevara finished the round with a 5-over 77. He placed in a tie for 40th.
Jack Smith, who competed as an individual, finished the tournament with an overall 235 after shooting 5-over 77 in the final round.
No. 13 Oklahoma State, the highest ranked team in the field, claimed the team title and individual title at the Hayt. The Cowboys took the team title with 6-under (858 overall), and Brendon Jelley won by four strokes with a 9-under 207.

What's Next
The Vols will travel west to compete in the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Arizona, March 5-6. The field consists of 12 programs, including No. 22 Purdue, No. 33 Texas A&M and host Michigan.
Rounds one and two will take place March 5, and the final round is slated for March 6. Pairings will be announced at a later date.
