Tennessee Finishes Day One in 11th

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Junior Juan Carlos Serrano Guevara posted a team-high even par as the Tennessee golf team shot a total of 303 in Friday’s first round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate in Dalton, Ga.
Tennessee sits in 11th place after the first round. Guevara finished with five birdies on the day and is currently tied for 12th in the individual standings.
Senior Chad Merzbacher shot a 3-over 75 in the first round and recorded two birdies. He is tied for 32nd.
Junior Jack Smith and sophomore Lorenzo Scalise both posted 6-over 78s in the round. Scalise birdied two, while Smith eagled the par-4 16th that plays 367 yards.
Senior Mike Nagy shot an 83, and Michael Monroe, who competed as an independent, shot an 86.
Tennessee’s five team competitors tee off between 9:47 a.m. ET and 10:31 a.m. ET. Monroe begins at 8:30 a.m. ET.
