August 28, 2015 | Men's Golf

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee men’s golf program released its schedule for the 2015-2016 season Friday.
Tennessee will play in 10 regular season events in the 2015-16 season. Four tournaments will be in the fall season stretching from September to November. The remaining six will be in the spring season, concluding with the SEC Championship in April.
The Vols will open their 2015-16 season with a trip to Dalton, Georgia, for the Carpet Capital Collegiate Sept. 11-13. This marks the tenth consecutive year that Tennessee will open the season at the Carpet Capital event.
Tennessee will travel to the DICK’S ACC/SEC Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee, Sept. 25-27. The tournament pits six SEC members—Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and Vanderbilt—against six ACC members---Clemson, Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Florida State and Virginia. Nine of the 12 squads competing in the challenge made the NCAA Tournament in 2015.
The squad will compete in its sole tournament in East Tennessee at the Bank of Tennessee at Blackthorn in Johnson City, Tennessee, Oct. 9-11. The Vols have a long history of playing in this event and won in 2009.
The final tournament of the fall season will take place at the Gifford Intercollegiate in San Diego, California, Nov. 2-4. The Vols return to the West Coast for the first time since 2013.
Following a three-month break, Tennessee will open its 2016 spring schedule at the Sea Best Invitational in Ponte Verda, Florida, Feb. 1-2. The Vols have played at the Sea Best the past four seasons and claimed the tournament title in 2013.
The team will return to Ponte Verda, Florida, three weeks later for the John Hayt Invitational Feb. 26-28. They finished eighth at the event in 2015.
Tennessee will travel to the West for a second time when it plays in the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Arizona, March 5-6.
Following Tennessee’s trip to Arizona, the squad will travel to Williamsburg, Virginia, for the Kingsmill Intercollegiate March 20-22. Tennessee historically has played well in the city, taking first place at the 2013 C&F Bank Intercollegiate in its last visit to Williamsburg.
The Vols will return to the 3M Augusta State Invitational in Augusta, Georgia, on April 2-3. Tennessee finished ninth in last season’s event.
The 2015-2016 regular season will conclude with the SEC Championship in Sea Island, Georgia, April 15-17.
