Merzbacher's NCAA Regional First Round

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Junior Chad Merzbacher is one of 10 individuals competing in the San Diego Regional of the 2015 NCAA Men's Golf Championships. Merzbacher posted an opening round 78 (+2) to place him in a tie for 55th place heading to Friday morning's second round.
The San Diego Regional is being played at the Farms Golf Club (Par 72, 6947 yards). On the first day of competition, Merzbacher got off to a rough start, playing the first three holes 5-over par. He bounced back and recorded par on the next five before finishing the front-nine with a birdie on the par-5 ninth to make the turn at 4-over.
The Ohio native proceeded to par holes 10-13 before bogeying 14,16 and 17. Merzbacher ended the day on a good note, sinking his second birdie of the day on the par-4 18th to finish 6-over par.
The six 54-hole regional tournaments will conclude May 16. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.
Merzbacher will begin the second round Friday afternoon at 12:50 p.m. (EST) off the 10th tee.
