KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Volunteers return to the links Friday as they travel to Jonesborough, Tenn., to compete in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at Blackthorn Club Oct. 9-11.
Tennessee looks to use its momentum from the 3-2 match play win over Clemson in its last time out to continue its past success in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.
Two Tennessee golfers—Chad Merzbacher and Juan Carlos Serrano Guevara—shot under par and finished in the top 20 in the 2014 edition of the tournament.
Although the Vols finished 11th in a weather-shortened tournament last season, they have claimed the tournament title on three different occasions. Tennessee won the title in 2004, 2006 and 2009.
Through two tournaments, Merzbacher and Serrano are tied for the team’s best stroke average at 74.33. Both have two rounds of shooting par or better with both of Merzbacher’s under par rounds being in the 60s.
Tennessee is paired with Penn State and Missouri for Friday’s first round and tees off starting at 11 a.m. ET.
