KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- VFL Oliver Goss was one of 150 golfers looking to earn their tour cards in the final stage of Web.com Tour Q-School over the weekend. Find out how the former Vol finished here.
Former Vol, Oliver Goss competed in the final stage of Web.com Tour Q-School at PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Goss qualified for the final stage by finishing T-15th during the second stage at TPC Craig Ranch in November.
Goss was one of 150 golfers to have a shot at earning a Web.com Tour Card for the 2015 season. The winner and ties earn full exemption for the 2015 season. Players finishing 2-10 and ties are exempt until the third periodic re-order. Players finishing after 10 and ties through 45 and ties are exempt until the second re-order. Last but not least, every golfer finishing outside of the 45 and ties position earns conditional status for the 2015 season.
Play consisted of six rounds. Each golfer played three rounds at the Champion course and three rounds at the Fazio course.
Goss posted an opening round of 73 (+2) at the Champion course, followed by a second round 69 (-3) at the Fazio course. His third round was also at the Fazio course and he carded a 73 (+1).
The fourth round at the Champion course was Goss's best of the weekend. The 2014 Masters' Low-Amateur shot an impressive 64 (-7) to get him back in the mix. Goss posted a 74 (+2) in the fifth round, and ended the weekend with a 70 (-1) to finish 6-under par.
The 6-under par finish placed Goss in a tie for 50th. It was a tough break for the former Vol, as he finished one stroke outside of the Top-45.
