2014 Quail Valley Intercollegiate Preview

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - On Monday, the Tennessee men's golf team will tee off at the Quail Valley Intercollegiate, which is hosted by Mcneese State University and played at Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach, Fla.
The 2014 Quail Valley Intercollegiate is being held at Quail Valley Golf Club. Quail Valley has hosted numerous USGA and PGA events including Q-School, US Open Qualifying and State Amateurs. The course was designed by Tom Fazio and Nick Price.
The Quail Valley Intercollegiate features two top 50 and four top 100 teams from the Golfweek.com Division 1 Poll, which was released on October 24.
Coach Jim Kelson will start junior Chad Merzbacher, sophomore Jack Smith, sophomore Juan Carlos Serrano Guevara, freshman Lorenzo Scalise, and junior Michael Nagy.
The Volunteers head to Vero Beach led by Merzbacher, who has been the team's highest finisher in three of the four fall events. The junior posted his second consecutive top 20 finish at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. Merzbacher carded 75-67--142 (-2) to finish in a tie for 12th place.
The last time out, the Vols finished a rain shortened Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in 11th place. Tennessee will look to wrap up their fall season on a higher note this week at Quail Valley Golf Club.
The format will consist of five-man teams, with the best four scores counting toward the daily total. Round one will begin in a Shotgun format. Tennessee will tee off holes 4-8 at 9:00 a.m. (ET) alongside Kentucky and Michigan State. Play will consist of 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday. Tuesday's pairings and times will be released Monday night.
