KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --Amy Neal scored along the end line in the 53rd minute, Christine Creighton scored on a header in the 81st minute and Tennessee topped LSU, 2-1, on Friday at Regal Soccer Stadium.
Tennessee (7-7-1, 2-4-1 SEC) and LSU (5-9-2, 1-5-1 SEC) each registered 12 shots in the game. UT goalkeeper Jamie Simmons (7-7-1) made two saves in the win. UT had an incredible 13-1 advantage on corner kicks.
Tennessee's best look at a goal in the first half came in the 11th minute off of a corner kick by Susan Ferguson. Ferguson sent the ball in from the right corner and Anna McClung struck the ball midair, sending it over the crossbar.
At the half, LSU had an 8-6 shot advantage and Tennessee had an 8-1 edge on corner kicks.
In the 53rd minute, Aaran Parry pushed a ball forward outside the right side of the box for Neal, who dribbled the ball in along the end line and fired to the left side of the goal for her fourth score of the season.
Creighton gave Tennessee a 2-0 lead in the 81st minute. Emily Morrow made a pass on the left side of the box to Parry, who found Creighton on the right side for the header score.
LSU answered with a goal under a minute later when Alexis Urch's throw in from the right side soared over a crowd of players and found Jorian Baucom for a score on the left side of the six-yard box.
Tennessee will next host Vanderbilt on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET on SEC Network +. Brian Rice and Tori Beeler Watson will be in the broadcast booth and Julia Cox will report from the sidelines.
