Big Day for Vol Golf

On Thursday, the Tennessee men's golf program showed why it is one of the best in the country. Volunteers from the past, present, and future achieved great success on golf courses across the world.
FORMER VOLUNTEER NEWS
Philip Pettitt (2004-08) currently participates on the PGA Web.com Tour. The Murfreesboro native is competing at the Utah Championship this week. Pettitt shot a 66 (-5), which included six birdies on Thursday. He currently sits in a tie for 14th place after the first round. The tournament can be seen on the Golf Channel (check your local listings). Utah Championship LEADERBOARD
Darren Renwick (2008-12) currently plays on the PGA EuroPro Tour. The England native is competing in the Grant Property Investment Championship this week. During Thursday's second round, Renwick aced the sixth hole. The hole-in-one helped him finish the day tied for 10th with a two-day total of three-under par (-3). Grant Property LEADERBOARD

VOLUNTEER NEWS
Rick Lamb and Oliver Goss battled rough weather and delays throughout the day at the Players Amateur. The Volunteers' one-two punch this season managed to complete their first round of play amid the less than ideal conditions, but they will have to wait until tomorrow to finish their second round. Goss even managed to squeeze in a few tweets stating his frustration during the weather delays.

Lamb ended his first day at the Players Am by carding a 71 (-1) and finished tied for 14th. Meanwhile, Goss closed the day right on Lamb's tail. The Australian native carded a first round 72 (E) and finished tied for 20th. Competition will resume for the Players Am on Friday morning at 9 a.m. ET. Players Amateur LEADERBOARD
FUTURE VOLUNTEER NEWS
Jack Smith, a 2013 Vol signee, was the definition of consistency this week. The Webb graduate wrapped up his junior amateur career as runner-up at the 50th Annual Tennessee Junior Amateur Championship. Smith finished the tournament by carding rounds of 69, 70, 69 (-2) and missed winning the championship by two strokes. Smith will be competing on Rocky Top for Tennessee head coach Jim Kelson in the fall. Tennessee Junior Amateur LEADERBOARD
Recent Webb graduate and future @Vol_Golf member Jack Smith fired a 1-under, 69 today, but will have to settle for runner-up at -2, 208.
