Vols Fourth Through Suspended Second Round

The Tennessee men's golf team had a few new faces wearing orange Sunday.
Freshmen Michael Nagy, Chad Merzbacher. Grant Daugherty, sophomore transfer Thomas Dunne, and seniors Rick Lamb and Jay Vandeventer represented the Big Orange at the Windon Memorial Golf Classic in Glencoe, Ill.
Opening day at the Skokie Country Club was scheduled for two full rounds, but darkness fell before the teams were able to complete their second round.
Tennessee sits in a tie for fourth place on the team leaderboard, having fired a 298 (+14) through one full round of competition.
Three Volunteers golfers are among the top 20 on the individual leaderboard, led by Dunne, a transfer from Northern Illinois, in a tie for third place at even par after the first round.
Vandeventer and Nagy are the other Tennessee golfers in the top 20, with both among a group tied for 18th place at 4-over-par through the first round.
The Vols have reason for optimism Monday morning, as Merzbacher and Lamb are poised to crack the top 25 with a solid second round. Through the first round of play, Merzbacher is 6-over-par (77) and Lamb is 7-over-par (78).
Round 2 resumes Monday at 9 a.m. ET, with Round 3 tee times to follow immediately under another shotgun start. Teams are keeping the same pairings for all three rounds.
Tennessee's playing partners are Ohio State and tournament host and current clubhouse leader Northwestern (+8).
Monday's weather forecast for Glencoe calls for a sunny day with few clouds. The temperature should be in the upper 60s, with a high of 68 degrees. The winds will be coming from the southwest at 15-25 mph.
