Dothan, Ala. - Former Tennessee golfer David Skinns (Lincoln, England) posted a eighteen-under par total to notch his third win of the season at the NGA Hooters Dothan Classic over the 7090 yard, par 72 RTJ Trail at Highland Oaks.
Skinns, the only player to fire four rounds in the 60's, won by a six-stroke margin over Christian Ries (Columbus, Ga.) and four time Alabama Open champion Todd Bailey (Spanish Fort, Ala.) who finished at twelve-under par for the tournament.
"I drove the ball very well all week which was the key. This course makes you hit it in certain areas on the greens, areas that are much easier to get to from the fairways" said Skinns of his keys to the victory at Highland Oaks.
"My hat goes off to the superintendent and his crew for a great golf course given all the rain early in the week" said Skinns. "The third win feels every bit as good as the first two".
Joseph Sykora (Daphne, Ala.) heads up the rest of the Alabama contingent at the Hooters Dothan Classic after posting a final round 72 to finish in a four way tie for tenth. Patton Kizzire (Gulf Shores, Ala.) finished at seven-under par for the tournament.
Skinns collects $33,566 for the win while Ries and Bailey each take home $13,970 for their second place tie.
The Hooters tour heads to Hawkinsville, Ga. next week for the ComSouth Classic to be contested over the Southern Hills Golf Club.
