Sandgren And Smith Begin Play at All-American Championships

Tennessee men's tennis player Matt Brewer fell in prequalifying Sunday for the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Brewer was attempting to join teammates Davey Sandgren and J.P. Smith in the qualifying portion of the tournament.
Brewer dropped his third round match to Anders Dalskov of UC-Santa Barbara 6-3, 6-4.
Sandgren and Smith will play see their first action of the weekend on Monday. Sandgren faces Omar Laalej of Drexel in the first round of qualifying. Smith battles 70th-ranked Jean-Yves Aubone of Florida State in the first round. Sandgren and Smith are teaming up for the doubles draw and in their first match of qualifying they face Damon Gooch and Mason Schermerhorn of Elon on Tuesday.
The All-American Tennis Championships include five days of qualifying events that precede the October 4-7 main draw. A 128-player prequalifying tournament takes place Sept. 29-30. This feeds into 128-player and 64-doubles team qualifying tournaments Oct.1-3, which then feeds into the 64-player, 32-doubles team main draws.
